The most unfortunate among are the victims of the murderous riots engineered by Bodos, a tribal people in the presume which took place in 1994. Thousands of families have lost their houses, agricultural land, cattle’s etc. due to the erosion happened as a result of changing course of Brahma Puthra river. There has been no effective measure to rehabilitate these desolate people either by the government or by the voluntary organization.
The foundation has done a complete survey of the refugees living in 8 camps of different districts of Assam. The survey identified 24613 people are living as 6018 families in the refugee camps. They have no regular jobs or employment and the live on the free ration lf few kilograms of rice every month.
Rehab India Foundation has purchased 15 acres of land, which will come about 6,54,000 Sq ft suitable to construct a village for rehabilitating the refugees in the Hapasara Panchayat of Bongaigaon District. Foundation had discussion with the representative of the refugees and authorities of the local governmental bodies and obtained moral support from all corners.

1000 cottage @ Rs. 1,00,000 for each house = Rs. 100 million (US Dollars 2 Million)
100 tube wells @ RS, 10,000 each = Rs. 1 million (US Dollars 20000)
School Building @ Rs 600 per sq. ft for 5000 sq ft = Rs. 3 million (US Dollars 60000)
Furniture computers etc. = Rs 0.5 million (US Dollars 10000)
Community centre @ Rs 1000 sq. ft for 5000 sq. ft = Rs. 6 million (US Dollars 1.2 Million)
Mosque @ Rs. 1000 sq. ft for 4500 sq. ft = Rs. 4.5 million (US Dollars 90000)
Cost of total project excluding cost of land = Rs. 115 million (US Dollars 2.3 Million)
The foundation in embarking a total rehabilitation profile for the displaced people by providing them shelter, educational facilities, religious guidance and means of employment.
